Privacy policy
Draft, last updated 2026-10-08. What this website collects, why, who else handles it, and how to see, change or delete it.
This covers Local Web Pilot’s website. Business Base, the software we run for customers, has its own privacy policy.
The short version
- We only collect what you type into a form, plus basic visit counts.
- Your business’s public details can be shown whether or not you claim your listing. When you claim it, your contact details, how you like to be reached, and what you need help with stay private. We never publish them.
- Some parts of the site are run by other companies (the chat, the free audit, the newsletter). They handle what you give them.
- You can ask to see, fix or delete what we hold about you. Call or text +1 321 485 6285.
Who we are
Local Web Pilot is a product of Value Local LLC (opens in a new tab), a Florida limited liability company. “We”, “us” and “our” in this policy mean Value Local LLC, trading as Local Web Pilot.
What we collect, and why
When you claim your listing
The claim form asks for your business name and an email address (both required), the area you are in, and optionally your name, a phone number, your business address and your website. We use these to correct and verify your business’s record and to reach you about it.
A hidden anti-spam field catches bots; a real person never sees it.
Your public record and your private relationship
Your business’s record and your claim are two different things, and we keep them apart.
- Your public record is what a customer needs to find you: your business name and business address, and in time details such as your hours, photos (and a menu link, for a restaurant), and when the record was last confirmed. This is meant to be seen. [to confirm: whether the phone number on the form is used as the public business number]
- Your private relationship with us is everything else: your name, your email, the phone number you give us to reach you, how you like to be reached, and what you need help with. We never publish it.
Where your record and your claim go
Your business’s record is kept in Business Base, the platform we run with Vendasta, once an account exists for your business. An account is created only when you sign up, when we run your audit report, or when we set one up for you. [to confirm: what Vendasta already holds about a business before an account exists, and who there can see it]
Claims are stored in a private workspace we run on Notion, not on the public website.
Your claim’s basic contact details (business name, your name, email, phone, address, website and area) and its reference number can also be forwarded to Vendasta, the company whose platform runs Business Base.
Analytics
We use a web analytics tool to count visits: which pages are viewed, where visitors came from, and general details such as device type, browser and rough location. We use this to see what is working on the site, not to identify you. The tool today is Vercel Web Analytics. [to confirm: whether it stays our tool, what it stores, and whether it sets cookies]
Fonts
The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts, so viewing any page sends your browser’s request, including your IP address, to Google.
Chat with George
George, the chat in the corner of every page, is Business Base’s web chat, provided by Vendasta. It loads from Vendasta’s servers and may set its own cookies. Anything you type into it, such as your name, contact details or questions, goes to Vendasta and to our team so we can answer you. [to confirm: link to Vendasta’s own privacy policy]
The free web audit
The free web audit form is also provided by Vendasta. Filling it in sends your details to Vendasta, sets up a Business Base account for your business, and emails you the report.
The newsletter
Our newsletter is sent through Beehiiv. When you subscribe, you do it on Beehiiv’s site and give your email to them; their privacy policy applies there. The newsletter page also shows issue cover images straight from Beehiiv’s servers, so viewing it reaches Beehiiv even if you don’t subscribe. Every issue has an unsubscribe link. [to confirm]
What your browser keeps
Two small preferences are saved in your own browser, never sent to us: whether you chose the light or dark theme, and where you last left the helper card on screen and whether it was open. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
Right after you claim your listing, your claim’s reference number is held briefly in your browser so the thank-you page can show it. It is removed as soon as that page reads it.
The share buttons on articles are plain links. Nothing from those platforms loads until you click one.
Who else handles your information
- Vendasta: Business Base, where a business’s account and record are kept once it has an account, plus George the chat, the free audit, and forwarded claims.
- Notion: where claims are stored.
- Beehiiv: the newsletter.
- Vercel: hosts this website and, today, runs its analytics. [to confirm: what its server logs hold, and for how long]
- Google: the site’s fonts.
We don’t sell your personal information. [to confirm]
How long we keep it
We keep claim details for as long as your business has a record with us, or until you ask us to delete them. [to confirm: retention periods for claims, chats and analytics]
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your information
- stop sharing your public record openly

Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights. [to confirm: which laws apply, and how quickly we respond]
For anything held by Vendasta or Beehiiv, we will pass your request on, or you can contact them directly.
Keeping it safe
Your connection to this site is encrypted (HTTPS). Claims are stored in a private workspace, not on the public website. [to confirm: who on the team can see claims]
