Questions
Questions people ask us, answered. Pick who you are, or what it's about.
What is Local Web Pilot?
A local media channel that helps small businesses around Orlando, and the web experts who serve them, find practical, unbiased answers to their web problems. We research and share first. When something is missing, we build it: that's where Local Record comes from. Business Base is how we put proven tools in your hands.
Who is this site for?
Local small business owners and managers first. Then the web experts who serve them, freelancers and agencies, and the people who build the apps and platforms those businesses run on. If you're looking for a place to eat or shop, that's Value Local's side.
Why do you use Notion?
Notion is a knowledge management platform. We use it to work with our team and to share what we know with local small business owners and managers like you.
Is it really free?
Yes, these are free: your Local Record, listing in and using our directories, the resources, a web audit and the community. Business Base's Preflight plan is $0 too, for local businesses in our service area. Paid Business Base plans start at $95 a month.
How do you make money?
From the paid Business Base plans, and from the solutions we build with a small group of Client-Partners. Nobody pays to rank higher in Local Web Pilot's directories.
Where do you work?
Greater Orlando today. Volusia and Brevard are next. Any local business, anywhere, can claim its Local Record.
Is my business already listed?
Probably. Local businesses are in Local Record by default, without claiming, signing up or buying anything. Claiming lets you check it, correct it and verify it's yours.
What does claiming my listing do?
It lets you correct your record and verify the business is yours. A person checks, calls or texts the business to confirm, and then keeps your record right when you tell us something changed.
Do I need a Business Base plan?
No. Your Local Record is free and needs no plan. The free Preflight plan is for local businesses in our service area. Paid plans are for when you want your listing sent to Google, Apple Maps, and Facebook, and more.
Will you put my business on Google for free?
Not yet. Pushing your listing to Google and the other big platforms comes with a paid Business Base plan, from $95 a month. We want to do it free for every business one day, but that takes know-how, funding and enough businesses to push out together. You can always manage your Google Business Profile yourself, free, at Google.
What's in the free Preflight plan?
A free Business Base account for local businesses in our service area: Local SEO that keeps your name, address, and hours the same on Google and Facebook, one inbox for your conversations, unlimited users, automation, a built-in store, and our support.
What is a Client-Partner?
A business we work with closely on our solutions, after talking and researching together until we're both confident it's a good fit. The Cruise and Orbit Business Base plans are for Client-Partners, and you can apply.
How do I list my agency?
Fill in the form at "List your agency — free". The Web Experts directory is for independent web experts serving Greater Orlando: free to list, no lead fees and no pay-to-rank.
Do you compete with agencies?
Sometimes, in a small way. We're a media channel first, and we also run Business Base and work with a few Client-Partners. Web experts are our second audience, and listing with us is free, with no lead fees.
How do I add my app to the directory?
Use "Add your app to the list" and fill in the form. The Apps & Tools directory is for the software local businesses run on, and it's free to list, with no pay-to-rank.
Who are the web experts?
The independent web experts, freelancers and agencies, who help local businesses with SEO, sites, listings and reviews around Greater Orlando. Our Web Experts directory lists them, free. A verified web expert becomes a Local Web Pilot.
